History
In the 1980's it became clear that the fire extinguishing agent Halon was heading for serious restrictions due to the environmental problem of Ozone depletion.

The idea of INERGEN was fostered, and in the late 1980's a number of pilot and test installations were made. INERGEN was patented and Fire Research was founded and is responsible for the European INERGEN activities such as proces development, support, documentation, licensing etc.
